Three-dimensional analysis of eccentric pounding between two-storey structures using explicit non-smooth dynamics

چکیده

Pounding research has been gaining momentum in the last decades with large earthquakes hitting cities insufficiently separated buildings. Even if no major structural damage may be observed case of slab–slab pounding, acceleration pulses influence response equipment and cause disruption their functionality. In this work, two different models are set up for reproducing shake table tests concerning two-storey adjacent structures, pounding. For slab representation, first model uses hexahedral finite elements, while second one shell elements. One main objectives study is to predict floor spectra over a broad frequency range, 400Hz. Transient computations pounding problem under earthquake excitation carried out using explicit CD-Lagrange approach. Rayleigh damping employed filter spurious high oscillations. The comparison between numerical experimental results terms displacements shows that able reproduce eccentric during tests. No parameter adjustment related contact required underlining robustness

Stochastic analysis of two adjacent structures subjected to structural pounding under earthquake excitation

Seismic pounding occurs as a result of lateral vibration and insufficient separation distance between two adjacent structures during earthquake excitation. This research aims to evaluate the stochastic behavior of adjacent structures with equal heights under earthquake-induced pounding. For this purpose, many stochastic analyses through comprehensive numerical simulations are carried out. About...

Pounding Control of Structures Using Base Isolation

The most important property of a base-isolation system is to make the base more flexible than the elements of the superstructure, but it must still be stiff enough to resist typical pounding forces, wind loadings, and similar low-amplitude horizontal forces. However, the potential consequences of earthquake-induced poundings on seismically isolated buildings can be much more substantial, and, t...
